Below, replace the sample data in the boxes with the average power output for a given maximal effort, in watts, and the corresponding duration of the effort, in seconds. If you have not done a critical power (CP) test yet, the recommended protocol is as follows: do your preferred warm-up, and then perform three maximal time-trials lasting 12, 6, and 3 min, separated by 30 minutes of easy pedalling in between. Once you have the data, fill the boxes below and it will provide CP and W′ estimates, their corresponding standard errors, and a plot of your power-duration relationship. A standard error for the CP estimate below 5% is optimal, if it is higher, then you may need to test again.
